On Wednesday, at approximately 4:52 p.m. a Henry County Deputy Sheriff stopped a subject for speeding in the 3000 grid of US 218/27. The subject was ultimately identified as 20-year-old Jemere Jackson of Ottumwa.

According to the report, as the deputy exited his squad unit and approached, Jackson fled northbound at a high rate of speed. He crossed the highway, continuing northbound in the southbound lanes of travel. Jackson eluded officers for several more miles and attempted to enter Mt. Pleasant via exit 42. The pursuit continued on the far east side of Mt. Pleasant and ended southbound on the northbound exit 42.

Jackson was taken into custody and charged with eluding, a serious misdemeanor, OWI-drugs, a serious misdemeanor, reckless driving, speeding, driving on the wrong side of the highway, and driving under suspension.
