The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves had their softball season come to an end after a 12-2 loss to Wapello Friday evening in the first round of the Class 1A Region 8 playoffs. Despite Wapello grabbing the inital lead, WMU tied the game up with two runs in the second inning. But the Arrows scored three times in the bottom of the second and never looked back, going on to defeat the Wolves after five frames.

The Wolves’ lone seniors, Anna Anderson and Keely Malone, each came up with hits in their final game. Winfield-Mount Union finishes the season with a record of 4-16.
