A pair of KCII area teams will meet on the baseball diamond tonight when the Hillcrest Academy Ravens host the Keota Eagles in a Class 1A District battle in Kalona. Hillcrest enters play at 19-4 after a 12-2 opening round win over Lone Tree Saturday in six innings. The Ravens are hitting .354 as a team with 233 runs on 206 hits. Luke Schrock leads with a .500 average and 34 hits. He and brother Liam Schrock have scored 38 runs. Grant Bender has driven in a team high 38. The Ravens have a team ERA of 1.81 with an opponent average of .201 with 97 hits, 34 earned runs, 44 walks, and 129 strikeouts. Luke Schrock, Rowan Miller, Grant Bender, Jace Rempel, Seth Ours and Phoenix Anderson are a combined 17-2 with a 1.34 ERA.
Keota is 11-11 after pounding Pekin 7-1 in the first round Saturday. The Eagles are hitting .246 as a group with 103 runs on 140 hits. Aidan Anderson leads the club with a .344 average. Tanner Waterhouse has 24 hits and 18 runs scored. Chase Sieren has driven in 19. On the mound, the Eagles have a 4.29 ERA with a .200 opponent average on 134 hits, 87 earned runs, 72 walks and 118 strikeouts. Anderson, Waterhouse and Billie Kindred are 10-7 with a 3.56 ERA. These teams have not met since a 16-7 Hillcrest win in the 2018 playoffs. The winner will play Saturday for the District 10 Championship.
