On Monday, July 3, State Auditor Rob Sand released the details of his 73 remaining stops on his 100 Townhall Tour.
Sand will be in Keokuk, Jefferson, and Henry Counties on Tuesday, July 25. He’ll begin the day at Legion Park in Sigourney from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by the Central Park Gazebo in Fairfield from 4-5 p.m. His last stop of the day takes Sand to Cranes Pond Park in Mt. Pleasant, where he will speak from 6-7 p.m. The next day, Auditor Sand is in Louisa County, as the townhall takes place in Wapello’s North Park from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Sand will be back in southeast Iowa on Thursday, September 7, where he will visit Washington and Johnson Counties. He is scheduled to speak at the Central Park Fountain in Washington from 12:15-1:15 p.m. and College Green in Iowa City from 2-3 p.m.
At these events, Sand will discuss what he calls the pro-corruption law, that allows state agencies to hide records from the Auditor’s Office. Other topics include the expansion of his Public Innovations and Efficiencies Program that encourages government entities and school districts to come up with creative ways to save tax dollars, and the new school voucher system that shifts tax dollars from public schools into private schools without limitations or transparency on how the private schools spend it.
This is Sand’s fifth Townhall Tour since taking office in 2019. All events are open to the public.
