Seventeen-year-old Willard Miller will be sentenced today for the 2021 murder of Fairfield Spanish Teacher, Nohema Graber.
Miller and his co-defendant, 18-year-old Jeremy Goodale, originally pleaded not guilty to the murder, which occurred in Chautauqua Park in November 2021. In April, both entered a guilty plea for first-degree murder, just days before they were scheduled to stand trial. While Goodale claimed both teens struck Graber with a bat, Miller’s account stated that he was just the lookout and it was Goodale who carried out the murder.
According to the plea agreement, the prosecution will recommend a minimum sentence of 30 years in prison, and a maximum of life with the possibility of parole. At the hearing, Jefferson County Attorney, Chauncey Moulding, plans to present evidence that would have been shown at the trial. In addition, at least 11 victim impact statements will be read during the sentencing.
Goodale’s sentencing is scheduled for August 23, however an additional hearing will be held on July 17 to decide if the sentencing will be delayed.
