It’s playoff time for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team Thursday as they travel to Center Point Urbana for the first round of the Class 3A, Region 8 tournament, matching up with the CPU Stormin’ Pointers. The Golden Hawks are the five seed in the bracket with a 16-20 overall record, after going 12-6, finishing third place in the River Valley Conference. The Hawks are hitting .329 as a team with 186 runs on 309 hits. Dakota Mitchell has a team best .423 average with 31 runs scored. Sophie Miller leads with 48 hits and Sydney Knebel has a team best 31 driven in. Mid-Prairie’s team ERA is 4.08 with a .298 opponent average on 274 hits, 123 earned runs, 47 walks and 136 strikeouts. Knebel has worked 147 innings with a 3.48 ERA.

CPU is 18-17 this season. They finished 10-10, fourth place in the WAMAC West. They are the four seed in Region 8. The Pointers hit .293 with 203 runs on 271 hits. Ryanne Hansen is at a team best .362 with 38 hits and 32 runs scored. Kali Washburn has knocked in 26. In the circle, CPU has a 3.58 team ERA with a .256 opponent average on 264 hits, 113 earned runs, 59 walks and 142 strikeouts. Olivia Perez is 8-6 in 94 innings with a 2.60 ERA. The Pointers have won two of the three all-time meetings between the schools including a 6-5 contest at the end of June this season at the Linn-Mar Tournament.
