Willard Miller, one of two teens who pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the 2021 killing of Fairfield Spanish Teacher, Nohema Graber, was sentenced to life in prison Thursday with the possibility of parole after 35 years.
The decision was handed down by District Judge Shawn Showers, who during the over seven-hour hearing said he would have considered life without parole if state law allowed such a sentence for a juvenile. Miller, who is 17-years-old will be eligible for parole in 2058.
Miller and his co-defendant, 18-year-old Jeremy Goodale, conspired, ambushed, and beat Graber with a bat in Fairfield’s Chautauqua Park on November 2, 2021. The two teens, however, have differing stories as to who actually struck the victim.
Goodale’s sentencing is scheduled for August. An additional hearing will be held on July 17 as his defense is seeking to delay the sentencing.
