During the last week of June, Westside Petro in Kalona was named as one of ten fueling stations in Iowa to receive grant money, as they were awarded $348,250.

The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s first $50 million round of funding to 59 infrastructure projects as part of its Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program. The rural development investment in the Kalona station will install two E15 dispensers, two E85 dispensers, one B20 dispenser, one ethanol storage tank, and one biodiesel storage tank. This project is estimated to increase the amount of biofuels sold by 479,303 gallons per year.

Other Iowa fueling stations included ones in Van Horne, Carroll, Rockwell City, Baxter, Marengo, Chester, Burlington, Waterloo, and Cedar Falls.
