The Washington Demons suffered a loss that ended their softball season when they fell 7-0 at Davenport Assumption Saturday in the Class 3A Region 8 semifinals. Assumption came roaring out of the gates, as the first six batters for the Knights had hits on their way to a 4-0 lead in the opening inning.

Washington kept them quiet most of the night, yielding only three more runs in the third, but the Demons had a rare night where they struggled at the plate, as singles by freshman Leighton Salazar and eighth-grader Colbie Greiner were the only hits of the night. Washington wraps with a record of 24-12, their most wins in a season in 10 years. The Demons lose one senior, Haley Mitchell, to graduation.
