The #8 Sigourney Softball team advanced to the Class 1A State Tournament with a home win at Schaefer Field 2-1 over the #12 Twin Cedars Sabres Monday. This is the sixth time in school history the Savages have made state and the second time in the last three seasons. They have a 26-4 overall record and were undefeated champions of the South Iowa Cedar League. They will play the #2 North Linn Lynx Tuesday in the 1A State Quarterfinals at the Harlan Rodgers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge. The Lynx have a 36-6 overall record and were undefeated champions of the Tri-Rivers Conference.
