On Tuesday the Washington YMCA held its groundbreaking ceremony for their new indoor aquatic center. Many people gathered outside to listen and watch the ceremony. YMCA of Washington CEO Amy Schulte had this to say during the ceremony. “This is a great day for the YMCA and for Washington County. The YMCA’s purpose is to bring people and communities together. This project is the embodiment of that purpose. Today’s events have been ten years in the making and will be the beginning of many new and exciting opportunities in Washington. Thank you so much again, all of you, for being here with us, you have all played a key role in the process, and we are truly grateful for all of your help and support.” So far, $7,349,025 has been raised for this project. The center will be ADA compliant and have a 6-lane lap pool, a recreational therapy pool, a whirlpool, a sauna, zero depth entry, and be able to host multiple activities simultaneously.
