The Lone Tree Lions were a tough team to contend with every time they took the softball diamond this season, and the honors are deservedly rolling in for their efforts, as six Lone Tree players were selected to the all-conference teams in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.
The lone first-team selection is Lions sophomore Kayleigh Rundlett. The catcher had a .915 fielding percentage and threw out 10 runners trying to steal a base. Rundlett also had a .261 batting average, swatting three doubles and putting up 11 runs batted in.
Sophomore outfielder Vivian Zaruba had a terrific season as Lone Tree’s lead-off hitter and makes second-team all-conference. Zaruba had a team-high .403 average at the plate and scored 37 runs while swiping 30 stolen bases.
Sophomore Alex Dautremont also represents the Lions on the second team. The pitcher won six games in the circle and racked up 52 strikeouts in over 79 innings pitched. Junior infielder Hogan Eden also makes the second team after hitting .318 with 10 RBI and 12 runs scored.
Honorable mention goes to junior Lila Bell, who hit .333 and had a team-high 33 RBI for Lone Tree, while sophomore Rylee Shield is also an honorable mention after batting .321 with three triples, 14 runs driven in and another 15 scored. The Lions finished the 2023 softball season with a record of 10-16.
