Brenneman~Diane

The Iowa Developmental Disabilities Council recently introduced its six newly appointed and two reappointed members. Joining the new members is Diane Zaerr Brenneman of Wellman.

Brenneman is a Certified Family Peer Support Specialist for the Child Health Specialty Clinics at the University of Iowa. As the parent of kids with special needs, she has used her lived experiences to coach other families of children with disabilities. Brenneman hopes to use this knowledge to continue advocating for the things people with disabilities need to have a good life. Brenneman has also served as a teacher, pastor, administrator, and farmer.

The Iowa Developmental Disabilities Council is a federally funded state agency that advocates for the development of services and supports so that Iowans with developmental disabilities can make choices and take control of their lives. The Council is made up of volunteers who represent Iowans with disabilities, family members, service providers, state agencies, and organizations concerned with developmental disability issues.
