Jefferson County Conservation is offering fun for all ages with three different events scheduled for the last week in July.
Beginning on Tuesday, July 25, JCC is hosting a Teacher Field Trip from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Any staff member of a school district will have the opportunity to experience outdoor activities that they may not get the chance to do while leading students through a typical field trip. This includes fishing, hiking, spear throwing, or kayaking, and concludes at the Carnegie Historical Museum with a pizza lunch.
On Friday, July 28, two different events are available for the public. This includes the Outdoor Adventure Night as well as a Moth Night. Naturalist for Jefferson County Conservation, Brittney Tiller, tells KCII about the Adventure Night, which is free and open to all ages. “Our activities this year are going to include kayaking, canoeing, hiking, fishing, archery, spear throwing, the National Turkey Federation has a bb gun inflatable range that they bring.” The Outdoor Adventure Night runs from 5-8 p.m. at Jefferson County Park.
Shortly after the Adventure Night, anyone interested in insects can attend the Moth Night, beginning at 10 p.m. Led by entomologist Moni Hayne, guests will walk through the park and get a close-up look at moths and other insects at multiple black light stations.
All three events are free, however the Teacher Field Trip and Outdoor Adventure Night require pre-registration. For more information on these events, or to register, visit jeffersoncountyconservation.com.
