Student athletes at Hillcrest Academy are spending time in the offseason to improve their skills on the volleyball court. The Ravens are hosting their annual camp for seventh graders through seniors this week. Players will attend Monday through Thursday from 1-4p.m. each afternoon. Work will focus on the fundamentals of volleyball through individual and group drills, station work and games with a goal of developing player’s individual skills, ability to work together and have an enjoyable experience while gaining a greater understanding of the game. Camp is operated by Raven head volleyball coach Brandon Statler. He has started youth volleyball programs at both Mid-Prairie and Washington along with serving as head coach on numerous club teams, the Iowa Rockets and USA Volleyball. Camp for grades four through six is later this summer July 31st through August 3rd.
