Last week, the Washington Police Department arrested 21-year-old Andrew Thornton of Washington on three Mahaska County warrants. Assault on persons in certain occupations and eluding, Class D felonies, failure to comply, an aggravated misdemeanor, interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor. On July 8th, Thornton refused to exit his vehicle during a traffic stop in Oskaloosa. He then sped away from the officer and proceeded to exceed 65mph in a 30mph zone before intentionally striking the patrol vehicle with his vehicle. Thornton is being held on a $10,600 bond in the Washington County Jail before being transported to the Mahaska County Jail.
