The Washington Demons put together one of the best softball seasons that the program has played in a long time, and they’ve been honored by other coaches for their efforts. Seven Washington players were named to the all-conference teams in the Southeast Conference this season after the Demons went 11-3 in conference play and won 24 total games, their most in a decade.

Not only is freshman Leighton Salazar a first-team selection for the second straight year, but the catcher/shortstop is the Southeast Conference’s Co-Player of the Year in 2023. Salazar was one of the state’s elite hitters, as her .550 batting average, 72 total hits and 58 runs scored all finish in the top five in Class 3A.

Sophomore Ella Greiner joins Salazar on the first team after a breakout season. The outfielder hit .475 with eight doubles, five home runs, 40 runs scored and a team-high 39 runs batted in. Eighth-grader Colbie Greiner also hit five homers in her debut season and batted .347 with 16 extra-base hits and 37 RBI on her way to a first-team nod.

Sophomore pitcher Bella Salazar is selected to the second team after posting a 16-7 record and a 3.53 earned-run average in the circle. Fellow sophomore Lauren Hinrichsen batted .310 with 31 runs scored and is named a second-team infielder.

Washington senior Haley Mitchell receives honorable mention after hitting .286 with 21 RBI, while Demon junior Emery Walton drove in 23 runs and also earns honorable-mention status.
