Today, we’re starting our KCII Top 10 Countdown of the biggest Washington High School sports stories of 2022-2023. At number 10 is Demon basketball senior Ethan Patterson reaching the 1,000-point career scoring mark.

In a December 9th home victory over Burlington, Patterson scored his 1,000th point by hitting one of what would end up being 10 made free throws. Patterson went on to pour in 20 points in a 59-44 victory over the Greyhounds.

Patterson finished his senior season with 409 points, an average just under 19-and-a-half points per game. Patterson ends his career with 1,339 total points scored, an average of just over 15 points per contest. Patterson becomes the fourth player in Washington boys’ basketball history to score at least 1,000 points and earned his third straight all-conference and second straight all-substate selections.
