Another great season on the diamond for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team has turned into a postseason full of awards. Six Golden Hawks were named to the Class 2A All-Southeast District Team by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.

A quartet of Golden Hawks were named to the first team including a senior duo. Senior Collin Miller was a first-team selection on the mound. He went 7-0, third most wins in 2A, with a 1.68ERA and WHIP of 1.08. In 58 innings, eighth most in 2A, he had a .195 opponent average on 41 hits with 14 earned runs and 74Ks, 10th in 2A for those with 50 innings. At the plate he went for a .224 average with 22 hits, 15 runs scored, 12RBI and 11 walks.

Senior Alex Bean joined him as a first-teamer for his work in the outfield. He hit .375 with 39 total hits, 10th most in 2A. Bean  had a .500 OBP, drove in 28, scored 22 times and walked 19. On the mound, he finished 6-2, fourth most wins in 2A, with a 3.50ERA. In 38 innings he had a .199 opponent average on 28 hits, 19 earned runs and 40Ks.

Junior Karson Grout was named a first team infielder. He hit .457 with an OBP of .551 and a slug of .762, eighth in 2A. Grout finished with 48 hits, second in 2A, 20 for extra bases, most in 2A including four homers, third in Iowa, drove in 37, fifth in the state and scored 34 times while drawing 18 walks.

Sophomore Brady Weber joins that group as a first-team utility man. With the bat, Weber had a .341 average and .462OBP. He totaled 29 hits, 20 RBI, scored 18 times and walked 11. On the mound, Weber was 5-0 with a 1.58ERA and 1.07WHIP across 31 innings. Opponents hit .174 against him with seven earned runs and 29Ks.

Two Hawks put their names on the second-team All-District list. Senior Cain Brown was a second-teamer at first base. Cain Brown was a first team choice at first base. He ended the year at .314 with an OBP of .400. He scored 37 runs, 10th most in 2A, with 33 hits, 25 RBI and 11 walks. In a small sample on the mound he had a 1.62 ERA in nine innings with a WHIP of one and 14Ks.

Junior Brock Harland was selected as a second-team pitcher. On the mound he had a 4-0 record in six appearances with a 1.09 ERA and 1.21WHIP in 26 innings. Harland finished with a .234 batting average against, giving up just four earned runs, fourth fewest in 2A, walking only five, foruth fewest in 2A, and striking out 24. Behind the plate as a catcher, he ended the season with 189 put outs, 10th most in 2A and threw out four baserunners. As a hitter, he posted a .307 average with a .519OBP, putting together 23 hits, 15 RBI, eight runs scored and 11 walks.

Mid-Prairie finished the season with a 26-7 overall record, their most wins since 2009, a River Valley Conference championship and their fourth consecutive district title.
