heat

While yesterday’s heat advisory reached Henry and Jefferson Counties, the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities issued a new advisory, now affecting the entirety of the KCII listening area, as well as a majority of the state. The heat advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. Friday.

As temperatures threaten to hit triple digits today and tomorrow, heat index values between 100 and 105 are expected during the afternoon. The forecast calls for peak temperatures between 3:30 and 4 p.m. each day, with little reprieve in the humid conditions at night.

Residents in the affected areas are reminded to stay sufficiently hydrated, wear loose-fitting clothing, and recognize the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If working or spending time outside, take frequent breaks, and never leave children and pets unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

The one to count on for up to the minute weather information is AM and FM KCII.
