Winfield is the place to be next weekend, as the City hosts its annual Crooked Creek Days celebration from Friday, August 4 to Sunday, August 6.
The event kicks off on Friday with a 5 o’clock meal at Twin Lakes Country Club. Dinner is directly followed by a family-friendly bags tournament at the Club. A puzzle escape room at the City Office will be held from 5-8 p.m. The escape room is available each day of the celebration, as well as Wednesday and Thursday from 5-9 p.m.
Saturday includes wall-to-wall activities downtown, beginning with the Crooked Creek 5K Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. The Crooked Creek Day Parade starts at 11. The rest of the day is highlighted by a kids hoverboard race at the WMU track, volleyball and basketball tournaments, pedal tractor pull, Bill Riley Talent Show, and a performance from the BYO Brass Band. The fireworks show is at dusk, with the evening capped off by the street dance at the Welcome Inn.
Sunday’s big event is the JR Hewitt Memorial Car Show which runs until 2 p.m. Registration for the car show begins at 8 a.m.
Chairperson for the Crooked Creek Days Committee, Lisa Rees, commended her colleagues, as well as the residents of Winfield for making this annual celebration possible. “This weekend couldn’t be put together with just the committee. It takes a whole community to come together and if everybody just does a little bit, it makes for a great weekend.”
