The Eden Park playground in Columbus Junction opened earlier this summer. On Monday, August, 7 beginning at 4:30 p.m. Louisa County Conservation is holding a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Grand Opening event.
Director for Louisa County Conservation, Katie Hammond, tells KCII how Eden Park came into their possession. “Eden Park is one of our newest County Parks. It was left to Louisa County Conservation in the last will and testament of Donna Eden when she passed away in 2010. Her only instructions were that she wanted it to be a County Park, so we’ve been working on plans on and off over the years for exactly what we want to do, and the perfect opportunity arose to put a playground in at Eden Park so that’s our latest project that we’ve completed there.”
The Grand Opening event will include nature hikes, insect catching, and live animals with Louisa County naturalists. Kids will be able to play on the new equipment that is designed with a natural look to blend in with the surrounding landscape. Light refreshments will be available, and the playground has its own water bottle filling station.
The playground is located in Eden Park, northwest of Columbus Junction at 17426 County Road X17. There is no cost or registration for this event, and all ages are welcome.
