We’re continuing our KCII Top 10 Countdown of the biggest Washington High School sports stories of 2022-2023. At number 3 is Demon girls’ cross country finishing sixth at the Class 3A state championships.
The best individual finish for Washington came from one of their youngest. Freshman Iris Dahl completed a brilliant debut season by taking sixth individually in the 3A girls’ state race. Dahl ran the course in 19 minutes 20 seconds on October 29th, her best time yet, to add another medal to a growing trophy case, which includes top-10 finishes at districts and the Southeast Conference championships.
Freshman Angeline Anderson and sophomores Quincy Griffis, Lauren Horak, Alyvia Anderson and Kendall Hinrichsen also competed at state to help the Demons earn a top-10 finish in team scoring. Washington also won a Southeast Conference team title this fall and posted their lowest team score at a meet in school history.
The countdown of Top 10 Washington sports stories will continue tomorrow. Find the stories every day as they are announced at KCIIradio.com.
