This summer, the Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) gave out more than $100,000 in scholarships to 52 Iowans looking to advance their health care education. One of those individuals was recent Mid-Prairie graduate, Kirsten Albright.

Albright was one of nine students to receive $2,000 from the MolinaCares High School Scholarship. The award is given to Iowa High School seniors interested in a future career in long-term care, and enrolled in a certified nursing assistant, licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, associate of science in nursing, or Bachelor of Science in nursing program upon graduation from high school.

More than 150 applications were received for this year’s scholarships. They were evaluated by the IHCA Foundation Board of Directors based upon the applicant’s experience, recommendations, and future educational and career goals in long-term care. The IHCA Foundation began in 1988 to foster excellence in long-term care for Iowans by building a stronger workforce.
