Iowa District 44 Senator, Adrian Dickey, has been named in a lawsuit filed by a party that includes his daughter. Korynn Dickey, along with Shawna and Allen Husted allege that Senator Dickey purchased a vehicle for his daughter in 2020, but then forged her signature to place a lien on the vehicle.

The suit was filed in Jefferson County on July 5, and claims that the vehicle was given to Korynn Dickey with no strings attached. Representation for the plaintiff argues that she would not have consented to her father purchasing the vehicle for her had she known he would have taken a security interest in the vehicle. Dickey denies the allegations, claiming he had consent from his daughter to sign her name while placing the lien on the vehicle.

Also named in the suit is Jefferson County Treasurer, Mark Myers, on allegations of civil conspiracy. Myers’s attorney, Chauncey Moulding, is seeking to have the charges dropped, stating Myers could not have known that the signature was forged, nor does he have the duty to investigate its validity.

District Court Judge Lucy Gamon set a hearing on the matter for Monday, August 28. Iowa Senate District 44 includes portions of Keokuk, Jefferson, and Henry Counties. Dickey made additional headlines this summer after he was arrested and charged with interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor, while participating in last week’s RAGBRAI event.
