Two of the area’s best high school football players from last season got to represent their teams one last time as part of an Iowa football tradition. Washington’s Brayden Hartman and WACO’s Simeon Reichenbach both played for the South team at this year’s Iowa Shrine Bowl in Cedar Falls on July 22nd. Hartman and Reichenbach were one of 92 seniors selected from around the state to play in the all-star game at the UNI-Dome on the campus of the University of North Iowa.

Hartman was an all-conference offensive lineman in his final season with the Demons and will be attending and playing football at Western Illinois University this fall, while Reichenbach set a new school record for rushing yards and guided the Warriors to the 8-man state championship game in 2022. He’ll be playing at Graceland in Lamoni this coming season.

Sigourney’s Addison Strovers and Taytum Bell also took part in the festivities as part of the Shrine Bowl cheer team. Athletes spend the week together practicing and take part in the Shriners’ Children Mini-Camp, where they interact with hospital patients from across the Midwest. The Shrine Bowl has raised millions of dollars for hospitalized children for over 50 years. The North defeated the South 29-15 in this year’s game.
