At the Washington School Board meeting on Wednesday, Superintendent Willie Stone gave an update on the High School construction project, “At this time, we are ahead of schedule. Phase one, the High School two-story masons have over half of the outside walls completed on that two-story building. We have the whole south side of it completed, we have the whole east side completed, they have started on the west side, and they will finish on the north side.” This project is phased out over two years, with the new construction taking place the first year during the 2023-24 school year. High School students will be moved to the new addition for the 2024-25 school year, and the renovation will happen in the part of the building they vacated during that school year.
