Anyone wishing to file comments or objections to the Goldfinch Solar Project in Washington County has until September 3 to do so. The announcement was made by the Iowa Utilities Board last week.
On July 25, Goldfinch Solar filed a request seeking to waive the requirement for a hearing, claiming the public has had ample time to weigh in on the proposed project. An informational meeting was held on September 26 of last year, while the public has had the opportunity to file comments or objections on the docket via the Iowa Utilities Board’s website.
According to the written application, Goldfinch Solar plans to begin construction on the $250 million project in April of next year with commercial operation achieved by fall of 2025. The 200 megawatt facility would be built on 3,200 acres of privately-owned land north of Ainsworth. Goldfinch Solar states that all necessary land rights have been secured, and a copy of the application and waiver request have been sent to affected property owners.
Once the deadline is met, Goldfinch Solar will have seven days to respond to any comments, letters of support, or objections. To file a comment, click here using docket number GCU-2022-0002.
