Summer break is entering its final days in Washington County, as most schools begin to see their teachers return this week.

Washington Community Schools begin new teacher orientation today, with professional development for all staff starting on Wednesday. New teachers in the Mid-Prairie Community School District have professional learning tomorrow through Thursday, with all-staff professional learning days on Friday, August 18, Monday, August 21, and Tuesday, August 22. Highland CSD kicks off its new teacher workshop Thursday and Friday, whereas all staff report for in-service on the 21st and 22nd.

On the private school end, Hillcrest Academy is holding new staff orientation on Thursday, August 17. The 18th, 21st, and 22nd will be devoted to teacher workdays. St. James Elementary in Washington has professional development all week, as well as next Monday and Tuesday.

All schools in Washington County are scheduled to welcome students back on Wednesday, August 23.
