Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center hosted their annual Kirkwood for Kids Camp earlier this summer. 145 elementary-aged students from Washington, WACO, Highland, Lone Tree, and Mid-Prairie experienced a wide range of topics over the course of the week, most of which related to STEAM education (Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Math). STEAM subjects are considered critical for children as they develop key life skills. Kirkwood Washington Regional’s annual summer camp experience is an opportunity for local students to engage in creative hands-on classes, make new friends and learn while they are at it. Camp offerings are thoughtfully planned out to provide experiences that are of interest to all students and age-appropriate. Students are able to experience a college campus environment in a fun setting with the hope that one day when in high school, they will feel comfortable to return to the classrooms as a dual-enrolled college student.
