superconference

There was plenty of talent from area teams that took starring roles in volleyball last season in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North, and plenty of those players that led the conference in a number of statistics will be back this fall.

That includes WACO’s Marie Farmer, who was not only one of the best servers in the conference, but in the state. As a junior, Farmer led the Super Conference North in aces with 97. Nobody had more successful serves and serve attempts in the league than Farmer, resulting in a 95.2-percent serve average that was also best in the conference.

Her high totals ended in Farmer being tied for second in Class 1A in aces and fifth in serve successes. Warrior hitter Emma Wagler had a .357 kill average as a junior, the most efficient rate in the Super Conference North.

A top hitter returns in Highland’s Sarah Burton. who was fourth in the Super Conference with 203 kills as a junior. Burton also had the second-most kill attempts in the conference, while her then-sophomore Husky teammate Adeline Krotz was fourth in the league in solo blocks with 18.

Another one of the best blockers in the league is back in Winfield-Mount Union’s Lily Freeman. As a junior, Freeman was tied with graduated teammate Bradie Buffington with 51 total blocks and 28 solo blocks.
