The Washington Demons will have to replace some significant players from last year’s roster, including a number of players that were some of the statistical leaders in Southeast Conference football in 2022.
One big piece to replace for Washington is starting running back Tayven Stuart. In his senior season, Stuart led the Southeast Conference in rushing attempts, rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and yards per carry. Stuart put up 1,135 yards and 14 TDs on 182 carries.
On defense, the Demons need a replacement for linebacker James Strabala, who was the conference’s leader with 86 total tackles. Graduated defensive lineman DeShaun Westphal-Edwards led the league in both tackles for loss, with 14, and sacks, with four.
There is one league leader back for Washington in linebacker Casen Evans, who was third in the conference with 66 total tackles as a junior. Evans was also tied for the league lead with a pair of fumble recoveries.
Washington kicks off the season August 25th with a road game at Oskaloosa. You can hear every snap of Demon football this season on 106.1 FM KCII as well as streaming on KCIIradio.com.
