The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team finished off summer with some impressive numbers, ranking among the best in the state in Class 3A.

As a team, the Hawks finished with 316 total hits, eighth most, led by Dakota Mitchell’s 50 hits. Also reaching the 40 plateau were Sophie Miller with 48, Sydney Knebel 45 and Hannah Sellers 44.

The Golden Hawk pitching staff pounded the strike zone, giving up just 49 walks as a group, eighth fewest in 3A. They were highlighted by Knebel, who surrendered just 25 free passes during her sophomore season, seventh fewest among those who threw at least 100 frames. Knebel’s 157 innings of work were ninth most for a 3A pitcher this summer.

Defensively, Miller was third in 3A, committing just two errors all season. Her 99% fielding percentage was ninth in the state and she threw out nine baserunners during the year, seventh most in 3A. Mid-Prairie’s senior outfield tandem of Madeline Schrader and Molly Yoder were sure-handed all season, with Schrader’s three errors fourth fewest and Yoder’s five, sixth fewest. The left side of the Golden Hawk infield had a big year with Mitchell and Brenna Jehle each racking up 78 assists, seventh most in 3A.
