A Henry County man was sentenced earlier this summer for felony charges received in November 2022. Thirty-three-year-old Sean Vantiger of Hillsboro was arrested on nine charges last fall following investigations by both the Henry and Des Moines County Sheriff’s Offices.

With the assistance of the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force and Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Vantiger was found to be distributing marijuana and methamphetamine from his home at a time when he had full custody of a child. A separate investigation revealed an online exchange between Vantiger and a Des Moines County Sheriff’s detective posing as a 14-year-old. This included inappropriate videos and pictures, along with discussions of sexual acts.

Of the nine original charges, Vantiger ultimately pleaded guilty to enticing a minor under 16, child endangerment-meth exposure, and a controlled substance violation, all class D felonies. The remaining charges were dismissed by the court. He received a five year sentence for each charge, which will run concurrently. Vantiger will also be required to register with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Sex Offender Registry for 10 years.
