A Wellman woman was killed following a vehicle collision in Iowa City last Monday.

At approximately 12:58 p.m. on August 7, Iowa City Police responded to the intersection of Highway 6 East and Boyrum Street, where the incident occurred. Following an investigation, it was found that 30-year-old Kristina Pearson of Wellman was driving north on Boyrum Street when her vehicle was struck by a truck heading eastbound on Highway 6. The truck was driven by 24-year-old Drake Brezina of Riverside.

Pearson and a passenger were transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where she passed away later that day. The passenger remains in critical condition.

Brezina was cited for a red light violation, as the crash remains under investigation. KCII will have more information as it becomes official.
