Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District is among 33 counties that received funds to post signs on priority waterbodies in Iowa. The signs were installed in partnership with the Washington County Secondary Roads Department and funding was provided through the Iowa Department of Natural Resources County Creek Sign Grant program. This program provides funds to conservation and natural resource groups to install creek and watershed signs on county roads or city streets. Washington County received nearly $10,000 to install creek signs that identify the English River, Long Creek, and West Fork Crooked Creek at 11 different locations. Funding for this project was awarded in the Fall of 2022 and was completed by May of 2023.
