The Washington Demons are closing in on kickoff of a new football season, and they’ll get a chance tonight to stretch the proverbial and literal muscles before the real deal, as Washington will host Muscatine for a scrimmage this evening at Case Field.

The two teams will get 20 plays each in which their respective starting offense goes up against the opposing defense, followed by a 12-minute quarter of play with a running clock. The scrimmage will kick off tonight at 5:30.

Washington will get their first opportunity to debut a lot of new faces this evening, as the Demons lost at least nine senior starters from 2022’s roster that went 5-4 but won three straight games at the end of the season. Muscatine went 3-6 in Class 5A last year.

Washington’s first official game is next Friday night when the Demons travel to face Oskaloosa. You can hear all the action August 25th with pregame beginning at 7 p.m. on 106.1 FM KCII and streaming on KCIIradio.com and the KCII app.
