Two area football teams have plenty of people interested in what they’ll do this season, as both the WACO Warriors and Winfield-Mount Union Wolves find themselves in the preseason media state rankings for 8-man football.
After reaching the state championship game in a 13-0 start to 2022, WACO will begin this season ranked tenth. The Warriors are slated to begin the season this Saturday night by facing seventh-ranked Fremont Mills.
Winfield-Mount Union soars all the way to number four in the preseason poll. The Wolves went 6-4 last season but only graduate four senior starters from 2022. WMU will know right away if they can live up to the hype, as the Wolves open this season Friday by traveling to face a playoff team from last year in Central City.
