A strong start to the volleyball season continued for the Sigourney Savages Thursday, as they swept the Cardinal Comets on the road. Sigourney won the first set 25-13 and edged out Cardinal to take the second 25-22 before putting away victory with another 25-13 set won.
Junior outside hitter Josephine Moore led Sigourney with five kills, three serving aces and 12 digs. Junior middle Reagan Clarahan also had five kills and posted four blocks, part of a big night defensively at the net for the Savages. Junior McKinley Chittick had three blocks to go with three kills, and senior Emma Hammes had another four blocks.
Senior hitter Amiya Smallwood starred as a server with four aces to go with three kills and eight digs, helping Sigourney improve to 3-1 early this season. The Savages will next take part in the English Valleys Tournament next week.
