One of the most anticipated events of the year, the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion returns to Mount Pleasant this week. This year’s Reunion runs from Thursday, August 31 through Monday, September 4.
Unofficially kicking off on Wednesday, the Harvest Day Parade begins at 3:30 p.m., and is followed by the Don Carlson Memorial Horse Pull at 7. First held in 1950, the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion is five days of food, fun, and entertainment, while also giving guests a look at the past with their steam engines, antique cars, tractors, and horses. Headlining the Grandstand this year are Crystal Gayle, Easton Corbin, Joe Nichols, and Dylan Scott.
Grant Davidson, Public Relations/Marketing Director for Midwest Old Threshers, encourages all to attend this celebration. “This is a great thing in your backyard in southeast Iowa. Where can you go for like 6 bucks a day and get that entertainment and everything else? It’s a great family-fun atmosphere and a great learning experience too.”
Daily admission for the Reunion is $15, or $35 for multiple-days. Labor Day admission is $10 and kids ages 10 and under are free. For more information, including a daily schedule of events and map of the grounds, visit www.oldthreshers.org.
