In a special notice from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, beach monitoring was suspended last week for a number of Iowa bodies of water due to excessive heat. As a result, 15 beaches remain under an advisory, including Lake Darling in Washington County.

Lake Darling is one of 13 beaches in Iowa with an E. coli Advisory in effect until September 1. This list also includes Lake Macbride in Johnson County. Swimming in any of these bodies of water is not recommended until samples have been tested.

Monitoring will resume this week. For a complete map of Iowa lakes and beaches currently under an advisory, click here
