A pair of local residents had the opportunity to showcase their talents at this year’s Iowa State Fair, which concluded last week.

Calvin Wunderlich of Kalona earned recognition at the Iowa Parks and Recreation Pie Eating Contest held on Thursday, August 17. Wunderlich was the winner in the kids 7-9 age bracket. Just a few days later, Wayland’s Steven Miller competed in the Iowa State Men’s Championship division of the Horseshoe Contest. After a solid performance, Miller placed second in the Class A Championship.
