superconference

Thursday was a good night for a few Southeast Iowa Super Conference volleyball teams. That includes the Highland Huskies, who went on the road and defeated Pekin in straight sets. Highland won the first set 25-14 and had control of the match all the way through, winning the final two frames 25-16 and 25-15. The Huskies improve to 4-2 ahead of facing Wapello in their next match Tuesday.

The Lone Tree Lions were also a winner Thursday against Louisa-Muscatine. After falling in the opening set 25-22, Lone Tree rallied to rip off wins in the final three sets, beating the Falcons 25-12, 25-18 and 25-20. The Lions are now 1-3 and are playing this weekend at the Midland Invitational.

The Columbus Wildcats were not as fortunate, getting swept at Wapello Thursday. After dropping the first set 25-12, Columbus fell in each of the next two sets by a score of 25-16. The Wildcats drop to 2-5 and will next play Tuesday against Winfield-Mount Union.
