Area athletes continue to appear in the state cross country rankings from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. Five squads and eight individuals were recognized this week. In Class 3A, the Washington Demon girls are ranked No. 9. The Demons have one ranked runner in their lineup with Iris Dahl No. 3 in Class 3A. The Demon boys check in at No. 10 in this week’s class 3A poll. Washington has the No. 6 runner in 3A, Micah Rees.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls occupy the top team 2A spot for the second straight week with a pair of ranked individuals. Danielle Hostetler is once again the No. 1 runner in the state with fellow senior Abby Fleming just behind her at No. 11. The Mid-Prairie boys are ranked seventh in 2A as a team with Emmett Swartzentruber No. 13 individually and Preston Yutzy No. 25.

In Class 1A the Columbus boys are No. 18 this week. The Wildcats have one ranked runner in their lineup with Damian Vergara No. 22. For Winfield-Mt. Union, Kohlby Newsom is No. 20 individually in Class 1A.
