The WACO Warriors were the best Saturday at the English Valleys volleyball tournament, outlasting two pools and seven other teams to bring home the championship. The Warriors were unbeaten on the day with pool play victories over Hillcrest Academy, Sigourney and Tri-County, before beating Winfield-Mt. Union on the championship match 25-20 and 25-19.

Winfield-Mt. Union was 3-1 on the day, rolling through pool play with victories over East Marshall 21-14 and 21-8, Cardinal 21-13 and 21-11 and English Valleys 21-19 and 21-17, before being swept by WACO for the title. Stat leaders for the Lady Wolves included Audrie Gipple with 16 kills, Aurey Meeker with 30 assists, Pacey Schlee with five aces, Lily Freeman with 10 blocks and 24 digs for Tessa Huston.

Hillcrest Academy split their four Saturday matches with victories over Tri-County 21-10, 15-21 and 15-12 and Sigourney 15-21, 21-18 and 15-11. The Ravens were beaten by WACO 21-15 and 21-18 and EV 21-18 and 21-17. In total, Claire Withrow had 59 assists, Malia Yoder 51 digs and 19 kills, Kylee Statler 10 aces and seven blocks, and Niva Helmuth 19 kills.

Sigourney wrapped up their day at 2-2 with wins over East Marshall and Cardinal and losses to WACO and Hillcrest Academy.
