After a bye week, the Lone Tree Lions return to the football field tomorrow night when they host Midland. Lone Tree won in Week Zero 54-16 against Parkview Christian of Illinois but fell two weeks ago to Iowa Valley.
Lions quarterback Ethan Bockelman has been running wild to start the season, putting up 360 yards and nine touchdowns rushing. Junior Maddox Jondle has also made an impact in a limited capacity on offense, running for 109 yards and two TDs on just eight carries. Senior Jader Sanchez and junior Brody Magruder have been leaders for the defense, tied for the team high with 12-and-a-half tackles each.
Lone Tree will try to slow down a Midland team that is red hot, winning each of their first two games by at least four touchdowns. Eagles quarterback Anthony Harrington is off to a strong start, passing for 262 yards and six touchdowns and rushing for 179 yards and another five scores. Senior running back Seth Bixler has also been a star with 18 rushes for 195 yards and three TDs. Lone Tree kicks off against Midland tomorrow evening at 7.
