The Highland Huskies hope that a battle of winless teams ends with their first victory of the football season when Highland hosts Van Buren County tonight. The Huskies suffered a 38-6 loss to North Cedar in the opener before falling 33-12 at Danville last week.

Junior quarterback Sage Hartley-Norman had thrown for 125 yards and a touchdown but is looking for production with his legs, currently averaging only two yards per rushing attempt. Junior running back Logan McFarland has been solid on the ground, running for 141 yards on 20 carries. McFarland has also been the leader of the defense, posting a team-high 20 tackles and three tackles for loss.

Highland will take on a Van Buren County squad that has lost its first two games by 27 points or more. Junior QB Izaak Loeffler has thrown for 190 yards and a TD and rushed for 84 yards and another score. The Huskies have beaten the Warriors in each of the previous five meetings. Highland kicks off against Van Buren County this evening at 7 from Riverside.
