The Highland Huskies will face a tough test when they hit the road tomorrow night to take on the Lisbon Lions in Class A District 5 showdown. Highland is still looking for its first win of the season and their first victory on the gridiron since 2021.
The Husky offense has largely been powered this season by quarterback Sage Hartley-Norman. The junior has thrown for 249 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 179 yards on an average of four yards per carry.
Junior wide receiver Ayden Havel has been a big-play threat, catching 11 passes for 209 yards and a pair of TDs. Junior Logan McFarland has been Highland’s best two-way player, rushing for 165 yards and over six yards per carry on offense while leading the defense with 30 tackles and five-and-a-half tackles for loss.
The Huskies will try to lock down a Lisbon squad that is 3-0 and ranked third in the state. Senior running back Baylor Speidel has been electric for the Lions, averaging over 11 yards per rushing attempt and piling up 413 yards and nine touchdowns. Junior quarterback Dakota Clark has passed for 334 yards and run for another 206 while accounting for seven TDs. Highland kicks off against Lisbon tomorrow evening at 7.
