The Washington County Board of Supervisors heard a presentation about some projects that the Washington Economic Development Group has accomplished recently at their Tuesday meeting. WEDG Executive Director Mary Audia gave the presentation, “We were able to bring Debi Durham, the Iowa Finance Authority Director, to this area and get a lot of recognition for Washington and Washington County. One of the big things that came out of that was for the pool project, the YMCA pool project, there was a five hundred thousand dollar catalyst grant that was awarded after Debi was here.”  Other topics that she touched on were the Kalona student-built houses that now have low to middle-income occupants, the sale of industrial lots in Washington, the opportunity for future broadband internet expansion capabilities, and the ongoing childcare discussions and childcare provider appreciation events.
