Today is the last full day to participate in the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Raffle, as they look to raise funds for the K9 Program.

Following their fundraising golf tournament on Friday, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office will hold the drawing for a Black Rain Ordnance Patriot Rifle. While the K9 Program currently consists of Deputy Scott Bell and his dog Axel, the goal is to use these funds to eventually add another K9 to the unit.

While this is not an inexpensive endeavor, Henry County Sheriff Rich McNamee stressed to KCII that he wants this to be accomplished through fundraising as well as the Office’s forfeiture account, rather than taxpayer money. “I think in a nutshell we’re wanting to utilize the resources we’ve obtained through good customer relations with our public and through the prior drug dealers that we’ve taken off the streets to make the good, honest, hard-working Henry County people not have to take that burden on themselves.”

Raffle tickets are $10 a piece, or three for $25. The winner must be 21 years or older to claim the rifle, and does not need to be present to win. To purchase tickets, visit the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, or call 319-385-4652.
